USA Cycling - Holland 2013
It all started in 2006.
Williams Cycling started in a hotel room in Austin, TX where my friend, Chann McRae, and I were running a week long cycling camp. It was at this camp that I came up with the business model.
The model is based upon the book Blue Ocean Strategy. Blue Ocean Strategy inspired me to create an uncontested market space in the cycling industry. In my case, it was to create a direct to consumer cycling brand. I believed there was a need in the market for great quality bicycle components offered at an affordable price point.
The business started in my garage with three aluminum clincher wheel designs. Quality was very high and pricing was half of its intended competition. It did not take long for consumers to realize the value proposition. The business grew.
Williams has since branched out into multiple wheel designs, components and frames. We currently sell into many countries around the world.
We are now located in a larger warehouse/office space with a showroom in Stockton, CA. We have wonderful employees who care about our customers and cycling. While most of our sales are online, many customers call in their orders or buy direct from our showroom.
Giving back to the cycling community is very important to the brand. Williams offered free neutral support approximately 30 times a year to the Northern California race scene. We have a long history of individual and team sponsorships including many national champions and UCI pro cycling teams. We currently sponsor USA Cycling U23 team.
We are here because of our customers. Without their support, Williams Cycling would not exist.
